Report of a disturbance from a Mena woman led to a 14-year-old female being issued a Juvenile Citation for Domestic Battery 3rd Degree. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Arrested was Richard L. Heifner, 44, of Little Rock, on Charges of Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, Possession of Meth or Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a Howard County Warrant for Aggravated Assault.

May 20, 2017

Traffic stop in Mena led to the arrest of Christopher L. Ridley, 54, of Mena, on Charges of DWI and Careless/Prohibited Driving.

Traffic stop on Polk 54 near Mena led to the arrest of Jason G. Hale, 32, of Mena, on Charges of Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License, No License Plate, No Liability Insurance, Criminal Trespass, Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Arrested was Brandon W. Rose, 19, of Van Buren, on two Warrants for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Report of suspicious behavior on Polk 64 in the Shady community led to a 17-year-old male being issued Juvenile Citations for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Battery 2nd Degree.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Curtis R. Parnell, 32, of Mena, on a Warrant for Probation Violation.

Report from complainant of the theft of prescription medications from a vehicle parked on Highway 8 West near Mena.

Report from complainant on Stagecoach Lane near Mena of an unauthorized person on their property.  Investigation continues.

Report from a Mena woman that she had loaned a vehicle to another person and they were now refusing to return it. The vehicle was later found abandoned.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested by an officer with the U.S. Forest Service was Karl K. Vann, 20, of Mena, on Charges of Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Christopher L. Lampkin, 46, of Danville, on Charges of Speeding and Public Intoxication.

Report of a disturbance at Lake Wilhelmina near the Rocky community led to the arrest of Fred J. Creekmore, 43, of Mena, on Charges of Obstructing Governmental Operations and Resisting Arrest.  Also arrested was Cody W. Creekmore, 19, of Mena, on a Charge of Disorderly Conduct.

Arrested was James L. Rickey, 38, of Hot Springs, on a Body Attachment Warrant.

Report of an ATV accident on Polk 61 near the Board Camp community. Deputies responded.

April 2, 2017

Rodney Dale Morrison, 31, of Mena was charged with stalking, loitering, two counts of criminal trespass, resisting arrest after officers were called to a local residence.

April 3, 2017

Report was taken of a window being shot out at a local business. The weapon appeared to have been a pellet gun. Case is pending further investigation.

In two similar reports, two local residents reported that their front windows had been shot out, apparently by a pellet gun. Cases are pending.

Jimmy Lee Wright, 31, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding warrant for non-payment of child support.

Christina McElveen, 25, of Mena was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

Jerry W. Haynes, 28, of Mena was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest followed a probation search.

Jason E. Tomblin, 38, of Mena was arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine or methamphetamine, simultaneous possession of firearms and controlled substance, possession of firearms by “certain persons,” and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as misdemeanor possession of schedule VI.

April 4, 2017

Richard Chad James, 38, of Mena was charged driving on a suspended driver’s license and having no proof of liability insurance. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest followed a traffic stop.

Phillip A. Riley, 57, of Mena was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license, having no liability insurance, and having no vehicle license.

Traci D. Wagner, 48, of Mena was charged with theft of property (shoplifting) after officers were called to a local retail store.

April 5, 2017

Jimmy Wright, 31, of Mena was served an outstanding warrant from the Mena Police Department.

A local man reported the theft of a vehicle from a local residence. Case is pending.

Norman Dennis Cote, 59, of Mena was charged with theft of property (shoplifting) after officers were called to a local retail store.

A Mena woman reported that her wallet containing approximately $3,000.00 had been stolen from her home. Case is pending location and interview of suspect.

A local man reported that he had had a firearm stolen from his unlocked vehicle. Case is pending.

April 6, 2017

A Polk County man reported the theft of a 2016 flatbed utility trailer. Case is pending further investigation and location of possible suspect.

April 7, 2017

Report was made of several items of clothing being stolen from a vehicle. Case is pending location and interview of suspects.

April 8, 2017

Logan Edward Pitts, 38, of Mena, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.

John Robertson, 38, of Mena was picked up on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.

A local man reported that someone had entered a vacant house that he owns.  He had placed “no trespassing” signs on the property, and the signs had been removed. Case pending.

Renee Veal, 45, of Mena was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and theft of property (shoplifting) after a call to a local retail store.

Jason Wayne Busby, 44, of Hatfield was arrested and charged with theft of property (shoplifting), possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended driver’s license.

Michael Bartholomew Mellette, 32, of Oden was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

May 4, 2017

Report of a break in at a local tire shop was taken.  Cash was taken from the business, and there was substantial damage done.  Case is pending further investigation and identification of suspect(s).

A Mena man reported that someone had vandalized his vehicle by smearing a substance on the side of his truck.  Case is pending.

Joshua Dwain Schell, 27, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant from Dallas County, Texas.

Alban Robert Beckwith, 25, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and Dustin Ross White, 18, was charged with possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop.  Both men are residents of Mena.

Report was taken of an attempted break in at a local store.  It is not believed that the offenders were able to gain entry into the building. Case is pending.

Neisha Fay Wikel, 24, of Mena was served an outstanding warrant from the Mena Police Department for failure to appear.

Christopher Stephen Davy, 25, of Mena was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license, having no insurance, and having no license plates on his vehicle.

B’layne A. Frueh, 19, of Hot Springs, was arrested and charged with theft of property (shoplifting), driving on a suspended license, having no liability insurance, and theft by receiving.  The arrest followed a call to a local retail store.

Officers responded to a call at the local hospital regarding an unruly patient in the emergency room area. The situation was diffused and the suspect was allowed to leave with a relative. No charges have been filed at this time.

Traffic stop on Highway 8 West near Mena led to a 15-year-old male and a 14-year-old female each being issued a Juvenile Citation for Public Intoxication. The juveniles were released to the custody of their parents/guardians.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Jim J. Evans, 67, of Mena, on Charges of DWI, Careless/Prohibited Driving, No Liability Insurance, No Driver’s License and Refusal to Submit.

Report from complainant on Polk 301 near Cherry Hill of being harassed by an acquaintance.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from a Mena woman that an individual refused to return a vehicle to the appropriate owner. The vehicle was later located and returned to the owner. Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from complainant of a missing Polk County man. The subject’s body was recovered in Chicot County. The investigation has been turned over to the Arkansas State Police.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Willie L. Carlson, 47, of Hodgen, OK, on Charges of DWI and Careless/Prohibited Driving.

Report from complainant on Highway 370 near Board Camp of being scammed by persons posing as Publisher’s Clearing House. Investigation continues.

Arrested was Jaylon R. Parnell, 19, of Hatfield, on a Warrant for Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree and Failure to Report an Accident.

Arrested was Joseph A. Sparks, 32, of Mena, on a Body Attachment Warrant.

Report of a one-vehicle accident on Polk 710 near Potter. Deputy responded.

Arrested was Blake E. Caldwell, 31, of Mena, on Charges of DWI, Driving Left of Center and Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License and a Body Attachment Warrant.

Report of a one-vehicle accident on Polk 87 near Ink led to the arrest of Bobby L. Rosson, 46, of Mena, on a Charge of DWI.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Little George Lane near Yocana. Deputies responded. All subjects were advised to cease all contact with one another.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Donald M. Baugh, 57, of Mena, on Charges of Public Intoxication and Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Wendy B. Baugh, 47, of Mena, on Charges of Public Intoxication and Assault on a Family Member 3rd Degree.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked two vehicle accidents this week.
